Carving the Top

The top is made of species of spruce from the Val di Fiemme, Italy.  This wood is extremely light and strong.   Because the soil in Val di Fiemme is rich in silica, there are small particles of glass in the wood which reflect the light beautifully.  Those trees harvested around 1000 meters (3000 ft.) of altitude are best.
