Carving the Scroll
The scroll is the most artistic part of the instrument. It is a
sculpture. Making replicas of old instrument I learned to ask myself
how each tool mark was made. I have made several tools to replicate
those marks. The extra effort is rewarding as it brings my work one
step closer to what the makers in Cremona were doing 350 years ago.
