Antique Textures
The hardest task in making replicas of the classic violins is to copy
the varnish' s texture. This because the originals have the texture of
300 years of life. I make maps of textures on clear acetate sheets that
I use as a reference. On this Guarneri top there are several variants in color,
thickness, transparency, wear, and color depth.
